Psalm 150:1-6

Psalm 150:1-6 says, “Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.”
The Bible teaches that there are really only two purposes for music, personal pleasure/entertainment or for worship and praise. Our desire at South Baptist Church is to have music that praises the Lord, for He alone is worthy. We strive to have music that praises the Lord, contributes to a heart of worship, prepares hearts and minds for the preaching of God’s Word and is Christ-honoring in presentation.
This is especially true in our choir ministry. Though we be small in number we understand that our part in the worship service is large. We desire to lift up our voices joyfully to the Lord, in an effort to praise the One who is worthy, and to do our part in helping provide an atmosphere for hearts and minds to be prepared for the preaching of God’s Word.
