Ministries
Awana
Wednesday 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Mark Kirkpatrick - Pastor pastor@sbcbaycity.org (989) 893-3977
Mary Martini - Commander (989) 893-3977
Our Awana clubs are for children 3years old through grade 5. We have "Cubbies", "Sparks" and "T&T" clubs.
Cubbies is for preschool age boys and girls. In Cubbies we have fun – and lots of it! We believe that young children can and should recieve spiritual training. Games, puppets, crafts, awards and other activities transform our preschool program into a lively weekly experience where fun and learning go hand in hand. Sparks is for children in K-2nd grades.
Sparks club meetings combine learning with fun to create an atmosphere of irresistible excitement for churched and unchurched kids alike. Club meetings are divided into three segments: Bible teaching/Gospel message, Small group interaction and completion of Bible-based lessons, and age-appropriate games on the Awana game circle.
The name Truth & Training reflects the passion of Awana to teach third- through fifth-grade boys and girls the truth of God’s Word and to train them to follow Christ in their daily lives. Our goal is that many of today’s young people will become tomorrow’s church leaders. T&T is the program that trains the leaders of tomorrow — today.
Our club meets every Wednesday evening, begining September 16,2009 until June 2, 2010.

Seven times each school year the Bible is taught by the story-telling method, with th aid of eye-catching visuals. The Bible story is the heart of the program.
The class is filled with students who are released from school. The schools we are working with at this time are Macgregor Elementary and Kolb Elementary. Each child that wishes to attend must have a signed permission slip, which is available at either school or South Baptist Church. We host this event, and the classes are taught by "Uncle Bob" Beery who is a missionary from RBM Ministries.

Music Ministry
Pastor Mark Kirkpatrick pastor@sbcbaycity.org (989) 893-3977
Psalms 98:4 reminds us to “make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth”. We are thankful for the abilities God has given each one of us and the opportunity to serve Him through our voices. Ephesians 5:19& 20 speaks of ‘singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord: Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ’.
Our music ministry currently consists of congregational hymns, offeratories, and special music before the message of our regular woship services each week.

"IN" Ministries
Pastor Mark Kirkpatrick pastor@sbcbaycity.org (989) 893-3977
Deacons - South Baptist Church
The need for outreach through the church in this age is very great. However we must not neglect the needs of the sheep already within the flock. We launched "IN" ministries by starting Deacon Care Groups. The purpose of our Deacon Care Groups is to help the pastor in ministering to the needs of the people by connecting each and every individual and family to the church. Nothing is more hurtful than being that person that slips through the cracks. So we will accomplish this through periodical meetings on smaller settings, special activities within each group, home visits, regular contact with every member and regular attendee, letters, phone calls and personal visits. Our desire is to see friendships developed, as well as having a environment where joys and prayer needs can be shared with others.

CEF Good News Club
Lennie Zink lakazink@gmail.com (989) 893-3977
I Corinthians 16:9 says, "For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries." We have a great opportunity to begin hosting CEF Good News Clubs after school at our area public elementary schools. This a great opportunity to reach a mission field in our back yard, that is often over looked. Thanks to a Supreme Court ruling we have permission to do this ministry and the schools must comply. We praise the Lord for this open door, and we are working to take advantage of the opportunity before us, because we do not know how long this door will stay open. Just like any other opportunity we have to glorify the Lord, by reaching the lost for Christ, Satan is in opposition. Please pray that the Lord would raise up the additional volunteers needed to conduct this club, and that God would be glorified as we seek to reach lost boys and girls with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Currently we have 2 clubs that are meeting each week. The first is at Washington Elementary School which will begin meeting Thursday October 13, and the second is at Hampton Elementary School which will begin meeting Wednesday October 12.
